Spanish 2!!!
Mas Y Menos desde Teen Tians!
Why Spanish?
Porque? Porque!
I am in Spanish 2 Because learning Spanish is important for going to different countries. I might take a year off and go travel so learning a second language would be good. Also, spanish I’ve heard is a gateway language so I could learn different languages from spanish on. “Being in a foreign language environment forces you to concentrate and listen, especially because you probably lack the language skill to respond as you wish.” (Thomas E. Rick). This is a good example of how Spanish can actually affect the mind into learning more! And that is why I am in Spanish 2!

Park Elementary Bilingual Children Project
Reflection
Recently, we all went to Park Elementary School to hang out with bilingual children for half of the day these past two tuesdays. We all performed various tasks for the kids and teachers including teaching mini lessons, hanging classroom decorations, and playing with the kids at recess. In class, we prepared by learning various phrases relating to school in spanish and we also chose books to read to the kids. Overall, it was a very fun time and a fabulous experience. My heart will forever remain with the kids.
At Park when my little, Missael, and I met we were confused but that soon disappeared during our first ice-breaker activity. Those who wanted to participate tied a balloon to their legs and ran around trying to smash the other peoples balloons. It was a very fun activity and Missael and I were in high spirits when we were finished. Then we went to his class, where Preschoolers and Kindergarteners were all together. I was put to work helping the kids learn subtraction though I felt the program we were doing was for the Bilingual children so I tried to hang with Missael as much as possible. Then recess came and it was everyone for themselves. Kids were running rampant and screaming to each other, it was hilarious. Then we went back inside and finished up the day with some reading. The next Tuesday was pretty much the same but I taught the kids Spanish colors. They seemed to enjoy it as much as I did, especially Missael, sense he got to help the others learn what he knew!
Missael and the rest of the Bilingual children were awesome. I think they were very happy with the experience. Hopefully, the time we all spent together made them feel welcome in the learning environment they were in and the time they may spend in school. I also hope that they might evolve differently than the past generations of this country. Racism is a major social pollutant in the U.S. creating many bad situations and ideas from it. My hopes for the children at Park is that they will feel open to people of different races and not regard it so much as something bad, but that we are all different and its ok. Then maybe if any negative, racist situations occur to them, they won't choose the path so many have; blame it on the race instead of the individual.
These two days affected me very heavily. By the end of the first day I was convinced I was going to be a teacher but then decided otherwise after reconsidering my wants for my future and deciding to withdraw my more radical views on the subject. I really do love kids deeply and hanging with them was awesome. I was definitely more inspired to learn a new language due to how Missael and I would talk and hang out. Looking at how he can talk in two different languages as a kindergartener was very moving. The only thing I would change is bringing my book with me instead of forgetting it and having to chose
one of the books that were already there instead.
Overall, everything about this project was amazing. The kids were great, the work wasn’t too hard, and the teachers and staff were kind. If I had the time, I would work at their after school program for as long as I live here.

Spanish Skit!!!!
In Spanish 2, we learned how to preform a skit in full Spanish! it was very fun and creative. All of the skits, vocabulary was focused around travel, though all groups had certain words that focused on a piece of travel. Our groups main focuse was direction. Writing and re-writing the skit was fairly easy. The hardest part was memorizing and performing. My group and I were terrible at remembering the skit which made the perormance a small, but managable disaster.
There were also some good, positive asspects of this project. When studying the vocab, my group and I learned most of it. Studying the Skit was also kind of interesting though we all got on each others nerves after a while so that kind of sucked. But, practicing on stage, even though our skit wasnt very good, was extremly funny and fun. Also, practicing in front of class was really fun and prouctive at the same time
